Meet Your Bookkeeper
Hi, I’m Laura Parker, Co-Owner & Bookkeeping Lead of Bookkeep Boss.
Bookkeep Boss was built for business owners who want the financial side of their business to be as strong as the reputation they are building. I enjoy working closely with business owners to understand how their businesses operate and to make bookkeeping a more useful part of managing and growing the business.
My work is centered on helping you feel more informed and supported on the financial side of your business, with books that are organized, reconciled, and easier to use when you need answers.
I bring a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an accounting concentration, an Intuit QuickBooks Certification Level 2 credential, and more than a decade of hands-on bookkeeping experience to the clients I support.
Our Approach to Supporting Your Business
Review-First Bookkeeping
We want to understand what is happening in your financial records before recommending what comes next. That is why most new client relationships begin with a paid Bookkeeping Review.
The Review gives us the opportunity to look at your QuickBooks Online file, the systems connected to it, and the areas that may need attention. From there, we can talk through what we found and recommend a path forward based on what your bookkeeping actually needs.
Reconciliation-Focused
We build the bookkeeping around reconciled accounts and reviewed financial records.
Bank accounts, credit cards, loans, and other key Balance Sheet accounts are reviewed and reconciled so your financial reports are supported by the underlying activity—not simply by transactions recorded in QuickBooks.
This creates a stronger foundation for the financial information you use throughout the year and gives your CPA or tax professional organized records to work from for tax planning and tax preparation.
A Structured Bookkeeping Process
Good bookkeeping takes more than keeping up with transactions. It also requires a process for reviewing the financial records, following up on questions, verifying completed work, and keeping track of what still needs attention.
We follow an organized workflow throughout the year, and you have a secure way to provide documents, respond to bookkeeping questions, and keep important information connected to your records.
Useful Financial Reporting
Financial reports should help you understand what is happening in your business—not simply be something produced at the end of the month.
For ongoing bookkeeping clients, reports are prepared from financial records that have been reconciled and reviewed throughout the year. Depending on what your business needs, this may include a Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, year-to-date reporting, property- or class-level reporting, and other relevant financial information.
Current monthly or quarterly reports can also be provided to your CPA or tax professional when they need updated financial information for tax planning.
We Stay Connected as Things Change
Businesses do not stay the same throughout the year. New expenses come up, accounts change, transactions look different, and questions arise that may not have existed a few months earlier.
You work directly with the person responsible for your bookkeeping, so there is someone who knows your financial records and understands the history behind them as questions and changes come up.
The goal is for your bookkeeping to keep pace with what is actually happening in your business, with financial records that remain organized, reconciled, and ready to support what comes next.
Let’s Start With a Conversation
An introductory call is a chance to share what is going on with your bookkeeping, talk through the support you are looking for, and get a feel for whether working with Bookkeep Boss would be a good fit.
A short conversation to discuss your situation, and walk through the next step, including the Bookkeeping Review.
